In my mind, carefully crafted asymmetric is better than symmetrical. When I took sculpture class in High School, the teacher had us spend a bunch of time gluing strips of colored paper together to make a asymmetrical but balanced structure. I didn't really like what came out, but I did take the lesson to heart in life. And I like the asymmetry of her pose.

So, here she's looking straight at the camera. But you've got the sun coming from one side and the flash coming from the other. I really love how I made her face look.

The dress is an interesting story. She brought several and I insisted that she wear the most outlandish of the the three. Especially given that she had prefaced it with a "Well, I don't know if this dress is going to work".
