I want the impossible. I want a lightweight geared head vaguely like the Arca CUBE for under $200. Failing that, a good pan-tilt head with a ARCA-Swiss type mount. Unfortunately, neither of these are available. Actually, there aren't even any really good geared heads for cheap, heavy or not. So I ended up getting one of the fairly hard to find pan-tilt heads that doesn't have a quick release at all and I'll buy some proper quick release hardware later..
This is about the only way you could get me to shoot B&W digital. Actually, it's kind of a lust object now, along with a fairly comprehensive set of filters.
The Leica X1 is a fixed lens camera with a 24mm f/2.8 lens and a 1.5x crop factor APS-C sensor. Expensive, but gives the Sigma fixed-lens APS-C cameras high-end competition.
The Lomographic society has a fairly interesting looking square format 35mm camera. Should be excellent for the toy camera crowd.
I'm linking to Nicolai's site Photon Detector because I also feel that anything related to the Lomographic Society needs to be reported with more scorn than I can manage on some days.
It's actually quite funny. I was just talking with my wife (who was grousing about the A400 on a trip because I had a shoot scheduled and needed the G7) about how I was unwilling to spend money on a new digital right now unless forced to because the camera market was getting interesting. What do I see but the next day this and the G11 announced? :)
The E-P1, despite its flaws, is still high on the list for cameras I'd purchase whenever my G7 breaks / is stolen / ends up in the water and muck while I'm photographing a naked model.
The best highest-end tripods and heads in the world will give you blurry images if you don't use them right. Here are some things I've discovered you need to think about while shooting with a tripod...
Well, all you folks spouting off about Kodak dropping film... now it's Fuji's turn. Fujicolor 800z is now off the market.
The problem, of course, is that the market that wanted an 800 speed film is happy with a digital SLR... and also that a lot of folks tend to prefer Kodak's 800 speed film.
