Far beyond the megapixel race
Every time somebody bumps up the number of megapixels, there's always another set of blog posts about how useless the megapixel race is. But I don't think they get it right all the time...
Hotshoe flashes for a Canon G7 or S5 IS
Two recent high-end Canon P&S cameras that seem to be popular with the buying audience have hotshoes. The G series of Canons have always had a hotshoe, but the S series hasn't until now.

This is useful. The G1 looks like it might be reasonably able to fit in the pocket with the 20mm f/1.7 lens. I think that whenever they decide that American consumers can handle a smaller camera, the camera they produce will be the sort of thing I want.
Thoughts on the Serious Compact camera category
Because I view my "primary" cameras as being best carried as clusters of heavy but high-quality hardware, I've realized that I'm really a Serious Compact junkie without realizing it.
